Department of Product Design
This year’s showcase from the Product Design department celebrates the work of students in the BA Product Design, the BA Interaction Design, MSc Medical Device Design, MA Interaction Design and Professional Diploma in Service Design.
The projects on show engage with a broad range of contemporary design themes including health, the circular economy and our relationship with technology. These themes are addressed in a wide variety of ways when approached through the lens of each of the disciplines within the department. Projects tackle a range of subjects; empowering citizen action to restore sand dunes, enabling positive communication between children and non-resident parents, micro farming for refugees and immersive environments for medical task training.
Underpinning the work is a human-centered design process that seeks to develop a deep understanding of human behaviour. This process is central to the departmental ethos and informs the design of meaningful solutions that are grounded in real world needs whilst remaining conscious of contemporary societal, cultural, and environmental contexts.
We are proud to present our students' work and look forward to the future impact that these students have as they move to the next stage in their careers.
