Blockey-Sustainable Sample Container
Every year, the cosmetics industry produces 120 billion units of plastic waste, with cosmetic samples being a significant contributor. Cosmetic samples are highly effective marketing tools for companies and popular products offer consumers the opportunity to try the product before making a purchase.
However, are you aware that most plastic sample packages are challenging to recycle due to their small size? Since recycling sorting machines are typically calibrated based on a 500ml water bottle standard, they often cannot detect plastics smaller than two inches.
As a designer focused on sustainable solutions, ‘Blockey’ was developed to address this issue. Blockey offers consumers a convenient way to use cosmetic samples. With its assemblability, the containers increase in size, aiding recycling sorting machines in detection.Additionally, being reusable makes Blockey much more environmentally friendly than traditional samples. It will significantly reduce plastic waste in the cosmetics industry and offer consumers a more convenient way to use samples.
