CalmPulse
My work is motivated by a passion to tackle anxiety in social spaces. What I find most exciting about being a designer is that we get to attend to these problems through our work.
Roughly 301 million people suffer from an anxiety disorder which makes it one of the most common mental disorders. Young people are more likely to experience symptoms of anxiety and with the rise of social media, social anxiety has become more common affecting around 12% of the general population.
‘CalmPulse’ is a device which calms and connects people when experiencing anxiety in social spaces. It uses vibrations and dimmed lights to mimic breathing exercises to help you relax. There are multiple devices and they are given out to your friends or family when out in social situations. When pressed, everyone gets a vibration that someone is anxious and encourages device holders to find each other.
