Place to Connect: The Canvas Virtual Studio Experiment
The Canvas Virtual Studio is a platform for a geographically dispersed team of creatives, part of Accenture’s internal creative agency, to connect, support, inspire, and mentor each other in a virtual co-working environment.
A series of qualitative interviews were conducted and a survey with colleagues from Ireland, the UK, Europe, and South Africa to understand the experiences and needs of the creative group. This data was then combined with research into remote working thought leadership.
We developed and tested a simple format that uses existing video conferencing software in a novel way. Instead of traditional meetings centred around agendas and presentations, the Canvas Virtual Studio recreates the beneficial aspects of a physical studio space, allowing colleagues worldwide to co-work virtually for periods of time. This approach reinforces a sense of identity and connection, encouraging the sharing of resources and inspiration.
