Mounds of Stone(s)
The focus of my practice is the exploration of traces, or states of being that permeate through time, memory, and rock. This project considers our human presence in a landscape through tracing evidence of intervention. Exploring a space through time, connections and remnants, it contemplates existence through traces, memory of disruption, renewal and return.
Investigating a personally formative landscape through the use of layered mediums and visuals, I try to consider what is beneath the surface, both physical and metaphorical. The question of what is beyond ordered existence, where states of being and memory may intertwine in non-linear time and experience is central to my work. Translucent layers obscure as much as they reveal. It is the ambiguous, illusive, nature of that which lies almost beyond understanding that interests me most.
