Stories are told around the meal table, worldwide. Care, love, a desire for the young to carry and to keep the lore. In essence, this is ‘La Sobremesa’. Messy plates, pushed aside, elbows on the table, leaned into, heard many times, but longingly, listened to again, laugh and cry! The really important, intangible stuff of our lives…
I depict these fleeting splinters of refracted light, like stained glass, achieving them first with inks on silk. The silk is my muse. Recently I’ve explored paper, fluidity and abstraction, using oils! Telling those same stories, striving to capture the vital luminosity.
My work is viewed in movement, viewers movement in and out of the piece. Then the slight movement caused by your passage through the art is our collaboration. I am always seeking this interaction between us!
