C.184
'C.184' is a response to reconcile with an old creamery in rural Kilkenny. The work invites the viewer to engage in a discussion surrounding these buildings which once held a community together. It asks the viewer to consider conservation and preservation, and most importantly the value of memory and how we hold it in our lives. The work is concerned with the labour, history and archiving nature of the past.
The installation is composed of materials and memory, both its physicality and materiality, giving you the privilege of experiencing this restricted site. The reimagined section of the building looks at moments of change when the site is no longer what it once was, and as it transforms through time.
History and memory is embedded into the walls of this site. The next time you see an old building or derelict site, will you ponder its history and imagine its memories, or will you create your own?
