Mollie Donegan is a Tallaght-based practitioner and arts worker exploring hidden social tensions. She employs the usefulness of art in generating tools to meet the needs of various groups and projects of interest.
In her project, a portable wheelbarrow bench serves as a gathering point for sharing stories and discussing the experiences of past and current working class students and staff. These discussions inform the making of a local newspaper, amplifying voices often overlooked in NCAD.
The intention of this project is to address the issues of class within NCAD and how the college can improve to meet the needs of students. It asks how NCAD can serve as a potential platform for future collaboration and support within the college community. Similar to the bench, the newspaper is designed to travel and create space for conversation both within and outside its pages.
