Where Can We Go to Meitheal?
Drawing inspiration from the rich cultural and material histories of urban and rural landscapes, my practice focuses on themes of public space, community and the commons. Through the transmutation of natural and repurposed materials, I seek to forge connections with the land and its people, exploring materials and their life cycles whilst striving to honour their cultural impact and inherent qualities. This artistic ethos is combined with a growing fascination for third places and the deterioration of spaces for commoning, especially within an urban context.
This body of work focuses on growing a third space and facilitating meitheal as a commentary on Dublin as a city and the social issues embedded in our surroundings. This work aims to spark curiosity towards new possibilities for a more ecological, holistic and connected reality for us all.
