Homestead
My practice is informed by my life growing up on a farm. I am interested in capturing moments in time through my own perspective. As I’ve grown older, time has forced me to look at life through an adult lens creating a new understanding, which I felt would be valuable to document. I wish to show the generational nature of farming through my work.
Cattle are a focal point as are places on the farm that time has irrevocably changed. I enjoy photography and drawing from photos. I like to merge and distort them in a way that is reminiscent of our own imperfect memories.
I enjoy using pencils, pen, ink and markers as they are mediums that allow for a huge amount of flexibility and expression. They allow me to create work that can capture depth and texture and I enjoy the precise line work that can be achieved.
