Mansized
“I’m coming up man-sized skinned alive” - PJ Harvey
‘Mansized’ is a visceral exploration into the turbulence of girlhood to womanhood. A raw rejection of conditioning and societal norms, embracing an unapologetic crude expression of femininity which demands space in an act of defiance.
Through bold colours, body imprints, abstract expressionism and explicit imagery, each element contributes toward unveiling the often deemed shameful aspects of what it means to be a woman. Maternity, sexuality and conformity lie at the heart of this collection.
Juxtaposed through the toughness of denim and leathers alongside the feminine daintiness of silks, text heavy prints carry narratives of shame, rage and violence against women. The work reclaims the female nude as a form of empowerment celebrating the inherent strength within vulnerability.
This womenswear printed collection embodies a declaration of freedom and self expression, confronting entrenched social constructs of womanhood. Dissolving into a raw honesty and power, coming up man-sized, skinned alive.
