Should you trust your gut?
Do you ever have a gut feeling? The brain-gut connection is often an overlooked concept, yet it is scientifically proven that the brain-gut axis plays a significant role in your mood, mindset and overall mental and physical health. Emerging studies and research by scientists, psychologists and nutritionists have made many discoveries on this topic in regard to the microbiome and nutrition with many terming the gut as your ‘second brain’.
The objective of this project is to utilise design to create awareness and to highlight the connection between body and mind. Through the lens of gut feelings, Laura showcases this concept through a publication, demonstrating the physical tangible connection in regards to health and nutrition. A typeface and risograph animations are created to demonstrate the emotional connection; the intangible aspect, the gut feelings, the butterflies or knot in your stomach. Lastly, an app demonstrates the connection between the two.
