What did you see along your way?
The focus of my practice is often personal in nature, drawing inspiration from past experiences, sometimes traumatic and others mundane. I attempt to explore this with levity. Research topics such as reproduction, madness, female sexuality and the domestic realm inform my work. Presently, the violence of birth and the experience of new motherhood are of specific interest. The dichotomy between the nurturing nature of this stage in life against the reality of an inherent violence of contained within is examined.
With an interdisciplinary practice, my work encompasses painting, performance and animation. Fluidity and movement are also very important and I therefore enjoy the unpredictable nature of mediums such as watercolours, ink, and gouache.
The translation of analog work into the digital realm also provides another aspect to the work. Artworks are repeatedly painted akin to the repetition essential in domestic labour. The paintings are strung together digitally to create a moving image or film. The work is then shared by using coding on guerrilla space online.
