Distant Community
‘Distant Community’ is a collection of work that emotionally explores an area labelled as dangerous. Publications, websites, posters, and animations form a series of outcomes that address themes of fear, comfort, safety, and community estrangement in a humorous and engaging way. This project attempts to answer questions such as, ‘what can a community do?’ or ‘how an individual is affected by their surroundings?’.
The campaign ‘Community Concerns’ surrounds the issues concerning residents in Clondalkin, amplifying their voices and providing resources.
‘Why You Should Go for a Walk’ documents my process of rediscovering an appreciation of my own area, while inspiring others to do the same. An online space accompanies the book, encouraging others to share what they find outdoors.
‘I Wish’ is a short animation exploring the personal and emotional response towards my surroundings, using traditional and digital methods. ‘Look Outside Lookbook’ deepens these sentiments in the form of an experimental catalogue of clothing.
