Transition
This project explores the complexities which arise from the disruption caused by parental separation. The work is influenced by artists such as; Gregory Crewdson, Jeff Wall, Larry Sultan and Erwin Olaf, amongst others. The tableau compositions are carefully constructed to evoke a sense of unease, inviting the viewer to contemplate the impact of parental separation on the family as a whole. The use of light and colour, as well as the deliberate placement of household items, creates an aesthetic which is intended to imbue a sense of tempered hope for the uncertainties which lie ahead. Through this project, I intend to shed some light on the experience of families navigating separation and the imprint it can leave on all involved.
