Every Faith in You
The topic of memory has always been of interest in my practice. Nostalgia as a phenomenon, is something that most individuals experience on their life journey.
This body of work explores the feeling of longing for the past and a connection with what I once had. The work documents these feelings through the experience of connection with nature and the elements around me. An exploration of the use of traditional and repetitive textile methods, accompanied by moving image, tells the story of my personal experience.
Sewing and embroidery are textile based crafts many people learn in the home; from connection. My practice focuses on the important aspects of these crafts and how storytelling has been lost through needle and thread. There is a longing that grows for connection and that which was once experienced in memory.
