This series of work seeks to capture the unseen energy of nature, to highlight the often overlooked elements within the natural environment, and to examine our interdependence with the natural world.
Hawthorn and lichen are among subject matter used. Hawthorn, a medicinal plant, is a known remedy for the heart and circulatory system. The resilience and strong colour of its berries make it a powerful motif to work with. Meanwhile, the humble and often overlooked lichen, which can live for hundreds of years, serves as an important environmental indicator for tracking climate change and biodiversity. Its ghost-like fronds lend it an ethereal and otherworldly aspect.
The work addresses the natural world from the minutiae to the expansive. The landscape holds memory, suggesting that nothing is ever truly lost or forgotten.
