Drawing begins with the line
What happens when I draw thousands of lines, thousands of vertical lines, crossing and recrossing an enormous sheet of paper? When I vary their length and their shade?
My drawings are simply lines and the spaces between them. The secret is that everyone’s drawings are simply lines and the spaces between them. But in the relationship between those lines and those spaces, something is born.
I set myself parameters: I draw with a 4B pencil. I work from left to right. I don’t plan the forms that emerge. I never take a break in the middle of the paper. I make something complex from the simplest act.
I see narratives, choices, weaving, soundwaves, coding, networks, geology and hours of hard work. I see time.
