“I’m meant to just look the way I look, because that’s the way I am”.
'Her Essence’ captures the profound yet complex relationship women have with their bodies amidst “normative” beauty standards. While much lip service is paid to this subject, the body pressures women face daily are relentless and enduring. This collection is based on how women perceive themselves in a world that demands conformity to unachievable and unrealistic ideals.
My aim here is twofold: to infuse the collection with celebratory playfulness while acknowledging the less positive realities it deals with. I invite inclusivity, ensuring that these pieces resonate with every body. Through fashion, I hope to provoke reflection and foster empathy, acknowledging that every individual, regardless of appearance, is impacted by this conversation. ‘Her Essence’ strives to empower, to challenge, and ultimately to embrace women’s diverse experiences with their bodies.
