Rooms of Space
My work comprises a series of paintings that focus on suspense and mystery. They evoke a certain time and period, featuring chairs stacked on top of each other, as if people have abruptly left, never to return.
My palette is vibrant, contrasting starkly with the raw umber backgrounds I leave on my paintings. The subjects in my paintings burst with colour, balancing against the muted umber backdrop. To truly appreciate my work, you need to get up close and personal, giving yourself a chance to decipher what's revealed and what's concealed. Is there a recurring theme? Each painting lends itself to the next chapter, in the room or the space amongst the objects, starting with chairs, then lampshades, a hidden mannequin, and finally, an array of porcelain dolls. Is this a story about the forgotten? You tell me.
