Unfinished Business
I am intuitive and spontaneous. I’m not interested in layered storylines and references. Yet, perhaps that in itself is the story, I am of a time, about instant gratification, approval gained by ‘loving’ and ‘liking’ my work. My audience is the people who love and appreciate fashion- more than current trend followers- but those who respect the construction of garments, tailoring, originality and repurposing of one-use garments.
Using traditional male attire and repurposing the often one-use suit, shifting from gendered garments, breaking uniformity and conventions through the repurposing of traditional ‘tailored’ suits, I deconstruct and reconstruct new silhouettes and garments. My work challenges the notion that the finer details of a suit, such as the panelling, the lining, and the pockets that are brushed over, can be the focal point. In the world we live in, disposable fashion and mass production overlooks the beautiful characteristics and the craft of tailoring.
