Dumped
Through my practice, I explore the performance of being with other people and the act of being alone, especially in the context of an unusual, and unlikeable character. This is inspired by my interest in film and TV that depict dark themes.
Choosing film as my means to tell a story, I have been able to place the viewer in a voyeuristic role watching the events unfold. Unlike other mediums, film creates an immersive experience that forces the viewer to be present with the characters and their actions, minimising any detachment from the subject matter.
My short film ‘Dumped’ is inspired by true crime stories about people who murder their partners. While exploring these narratives, I found myself continually pondering, “What is this person like when they are alone?”
