Re-Generation
'Re-Generation' explores how traditional Irish skills and values can inspire solutions to today’s pressing environmental issues.
In contemporary Ireland, like much of the world, we face the challenges of hyper-convenience, excessive production of single-use materials, and a general apathy towards the volume of waste we generate. These issues put increasing pressure on our environment, underscoring the urgent need for regenerative practices that support a circular economy.
Historically, Ireland embraced a different ethos. Born out of necessity, traditional Irish practices reflected a profound appreciation for resources, a deep knowledge of local materials, and the value of hands-on craft and repair. These enduring values provide crucial lessons for creating a sustainable future.
Through the means of a publication, an informative crafting toolkit and a flag series using upcycled materials, Re-Generation invites you to realise the implications of our throw-away culture and rediscover Ireland’s resourceful roots.
