My artistic exploration delves into the often unseen yet profound realm of maternal care and domesticity in Ireland, highlighting the labor and sacrifices of mothers that frequently go unrecognised. This work aims to shed light on the forced domesticity imposed on women, reflecting on its societal implications and the persistence of childhood experiences into adulthood. At the core of my practice is the recognition of generational trauma, manifesting in both psychological and physical forms and resonating through subsequent generations.
My process is deeply rooted in listening, allowing stories to unfold and narratives to emerge. Through a combination of photography, digital image manipulation, and sculpture, I craft visual representations that evoke the emotional and psychological dimensions of these experiences. Each piece serves as a vessel for understanding and healing, inviting viewers to contemplate the intricate web of familial history and the resilience inherent in confronting and acknowledging our shared past.
