HIGH AND DRY
Through this body of work, I aim to explore and examine themes of isolation, unfamiliar landscapes, and human endurance. By integrating a scientific approach into textile design, I have developed work that not only depicts an abstract environment but also fulfils a practical function.
My designs draw inspiration from survival gear, including lifejackets, eiderdown coats, and adjustable garments. Many sample pieces have undergone waterproofing, treatment, and rigorous testing to function as innovative examples of endurance gear that are more abstracted and conceptual in approach. This project challenges conventional views on the functionality of garments, prompting a deeper consideration of how we use and interact with what we wear.
