Fómhar
‘Fómhar’ is a hand-crafted, sustainable textile collection that emphasises the use of plant-based materials to create interior fabrics suitable for screens, room dividers, and wall coverings.
The design inspiration is drawn from the organic structures, surfaces, and colours found in fruits and vegetables. Loom weaving introduces a linear aspect to the designs, while techniques that allow the inherent qualities of the fibres to move and form into organic textiles are also employed.
This collection highlights the potential elegance of sustainable living, fostering a narrative of conscious creation and a deeper connection with the natural world. The production process and entire lifecycle are designed to minimise environmental impact, utilising materials such as paper and banana yarns and employing vegetable dyes made from readily available food waste.
Ultimately, contributing to a more ecologically mindful future, these contemporary textiles provide a viable alternative for those who value both craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.
