Everything is Weird Right Now
People of all ages seek validation, recognition, and comfort during tumultuous times in their lives. Inspired by concepts like the 'inner child,' my work explores how we carry the needs and desires of our younger selves as we age. Through objects and mark-making, my art reminds us of our shared humanity by telling stories that resonate for us all.
Certain items, such as teddy bears or childhood drawings, are often cherished into adulthood for comfort. For example, my fleece blanket serves as a cosy reminder to nurture and care for oneself.
'Everything is Weird Right Now' resembles a teenager's scrapbook, offering stories and advice for navigating an ever-changing world- from childhood and dating to AI and the experience of ageing. It poses the question: Does anyone truly know what they are doing?
Additionally, my publication on bathroom graffiti gathers the humorous, insightful, and poignant messages left by people expressing their vulnerabilities or simply stating they were there.
