Unseen Women
My work provides a window into intimate domestic spaces and the women who inhabit them. While I embody the character, I never reveal her identity or location.
Drawing on my own photographic source material, I frame the character using windows or other framing devices, introducing a cold distance between the viewer and the subject. This approach conveys a sense of loneliness and isolation. By placing the viewer directly within the space, I invade the sanctity of these moments, prompting contemplation about what one might focus on if actually present.
Cropped compositions capture fleeting moments - the running tap, roses, or curls draped over her shoulder - inviting an uncomfortable curiosity into her sepia-toned world.
